How do I get started with PayPal's Mass Payment?
Step 1: Collect payee information
With PayPal’s Mass Payment, you need only the recipient’s PayPal email address and the payment amount. We gather this information for you from your Resellers list.
Step 2: Create the file of payees
PayPal needs a tab-delimited text file which is used to upload into PayPal to initiate your Mass Pay. This file will be created for you from your list of Resellers who are due to be paid. Just click "Create PayPal Mass Pay file", then download the file to your computer (save it on your computer).
Then log into your PayPal Account, click Mass Pay, and then upload the file to start the Mass Pay at PayPal.
The file will be created from your list of payable Resellers, according to the following PayPal specifications:
List the recipients' email addresses in the first column and the payment amounts in the second column. In the third column, enter the three-letter code for the currency in which the payments will be sent:
- EUR for Euro
- USD for U.S. Dollar
- GBP for Pound Sterling
- CAD for Canadian Dollar
- JPY for Yen
- AUD for Australian Dollar
- SEK for Swedish Krona
- NOK for Norwegian Krone
Optional: Create a fourth column to list recipient IDs for tracking and reconciliation purposes. A fifth column allows you to send a customized note to each recipient.
Step 3: Sign up for PayPal's Premier or Business account
Be sure you have a Premier or Business account with PayPal, or upgrade your existing Personal account. Note: You must confirm your email address and checking account before using Mass Payment.
Step 4: Fund your PayPal account
Fund your PayPal account by transferring money from your bank to your PayPal account. Credit cards cannot be used for Mass Payments. Your PayPal account must have sufficient funds to cover the Mass Payment and fees.
Step 5: Make the payments
To make a payment, click Mass Pay at the bottom of any PayPal webpage. Next, click "Make a Mass Payment" on the Overview page.
Locate and upload your Mass Payment file (which you have already downloaded from here to your computer) and customize the email message your recipients will receive. Click Continue and then click Send Money to instantly process the Mass Payment.
Step 6: Mark all Mass-Paid Resellers as "Paid"
After PayPal's Mass Payment process is complete, return here and click "Mark All as Paid". This will create a Payment transaction for each of the Resellers in your Mass Pay file.
